The event was attended by industry members with addresses from Prime Minister Mark Brown (pictured above), Commissioner of the Financial Supervisory Commission Cheryl McCarthy and Reuben Tylor, Director of Trustees & Fiduciaries Cook Islands who was one of the key architects of the new product.
“We’re really excited about this new product,” says Marie Francis, chief executive officer at the Financial Services Development Authority. “It gives the Cook Islands an edge.”
The product will give our The Cook Islands a competitive advantage in the international bid for financial business from individuals with a “high net worth”, particularly Americans.
The product launch follows the passing of the law, entitled the International Relationship Property Trust Act 2021, by the Cook Islands Government in November.
The Act establishes a framework for what’s called an “international relationship property trust”, giving international customers another reason to entrust their estate planning to Cook Islands companies.
