Barry Engel: The Passing of a Pioneer

2017 July: It is with heavy hearts that we are made aware of the passing of US attorney Barry Stuart Engel on Friday 21 July 2017. Barry pioneered asset protection and integrated estate planning with Cook Islands attorneys in the 1980s. The legislation they developed became known as asset protection trusts that today has become an established part of financial planning. The Cook Islands continues to be recognized internationally as the premium jurisdiction for asset protection with over 20 other offshore jurisdictions copying our legislation.

Barry is survived by his mother Eileen, wife Marsha, and three children Natalie, Andrew and Mark.
